Demographics

Infant Mortality: 95 – 99/1,000 live births

Under 5 Mortality: 97 – 100/1,000 live births

Life expectancy: 42 – 45 yrs

Orphans under 15: 9%

Causes of death in children: Malaria, Diarrhea, respiratory diseases (including Pneumonia & Anaemia).

Population In Tanzania

Morbidity rate: Infants 55%, under 5yrs 55% and 5-18yrs 35%. Malaria a/c’s for 38% of morbidity.

Causes of death in women: HIV/AIDS, followed by Malaria & Tuberculosis.

Avg. Annual Income: US $270 (i.e. less than $1 a day)

Adult literacy (15yrs & over): 76% (i.e. 15yrs & over who can either read/write Eng. Kiswahili & Arabic.)

Ratio of schooling children: 1 out of every 5 children attend school.

No. of Children not enrolled: 11.5 million children not enrolled in school.

Religion: 45% Muslims, 45% Christians, indigenous believes 10%.
