Igokelo Secondary School (Mwanza)

Status : Completed September 2007

Notes : This well was sponsored by Ms. Shabnam. The well is located at Igokelo Secondary School on the outskirts of Mwanza. There are 261 students (151 boys and 110 girls). The nearest available water was 1 mile away. The students had to walk about 30 – 45 minutes each day to collect the water. Now, with assistance from Ms. Shabnam, they have got their own well in the school compound and they are proudly looking after it. All the students have said ‘Asante Sana’ to Ms. Shabnam.

£1,350 will provide one shallow well. £4,050 will provide 3 shallow wells in a same village and greatly improve the whole village’s well being
